Michelle Tricca of www.michelletricca.com was introduced to me PhotoBizX Member Kristin Rutkowski, who said in an email…

I just learned about Michelle Tricca and her projects and was immediately in awe.

Michelle's projects are different from the normal portrait book projects I've heard about on the podcast. She's not making money directly from these projects — but there's a tangential benefit she's seen in her business.

“The Face of Immokalee”, One of Michelle's projects — gives a presence to the immigrant farmer population in Florida. She's working on the fundraising for that project now.

Her latest project, “Florida Cowboys”, has been shown around the USA, and she uses that to help fundraise for her other project.

These projects are how she uses her business for philanthropy.

Talking with Michelle about sending press releases and reaching out to the press will be really helpful for any listener keen to pursue personal projects.

Following that intro, I reached out to Michelle, a portrait and lifestyle photographer based in Naples, Florida.

In this interview, Michelle shares how to utilise personal photography projects to grow your photography business.

Here's some more of what we cover in the interview:

  • How Michelle generates her income

iTunes Reviews and Shout-outs

Each week I check for any new iTunes or Google reviews and it's always a buzz to receive these… for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, it's confirmation that I'm on the right track with the interviews and that they really are helping you improve your photography business. That's awesome!

Secondly, iTunes and Google are the biggest search engine when it comes to podcasts and it's your reviews and ratings that help other photographers find PhotoBizX. More listeners mean more interviews and ultimately a better show.

It is important to just be open to opportunities as an image maker. – Michelle Tricca

Alternatively, if you've left a review for PhotoBizX and are looking for more backlinks to help your SEO, leave a review for the new Photography Xperiment Podcast and email me your keywords or keyword phrase and where you'd like me to link to.

Another great way to get a backlink to your site is to send a video testimonial. It doesn't need to be fancy and your phone will be perfect. Click record and tell me how PhotoBizX has made a difference to you and your photography business.

★★★★★ Not Just A Podcast for Photographers

Via Google reviews by Windsor and Ascot Pet Dog Photographer, Chris Miller in the UK on the 4th Feb 2022

Photo Biz X is not just a Podcast – it's the most helpful community of photographers all trying to support each other with ideas, tips and experience.

In my opinion, this is undoubtedly the best photography podcast there is in the Photography industry, and is my Monday or Tuesday essential listen. With Andrew's perfect style, it's simply the podcast for photographers by photographers. Every week, he interviews amazing guests and digs deep on questions and gives us all great insights. Every week, I learn something new or additional to implement into our business.

The free version of the podcast is a very easy and a useful way to start – but the paid-for premium version gives so much extra information, it’s truly worth the small cost. It's a game-changer!

The powerful and active private Facebook Group truly help, and there is no way I could be giving up my corporate job this month to switch full time to Pet Dog Photography here in Windsor Ascot if it wasn't for Photo Biz X.

Thank you Andrew and the whole community of PhotoBizX'ers – I would not be taking this brave step without you!

★★★★★ Consistently excellent year after year

Via Apple Podcasts by Provence wedding photographer, Karina Leigh in France on the 5th Feb 2022

I’ve listened to Andrew’s podcast, PhotoBizX for several years, and it’s the one and only photography podcast I truly enjoy listening to, year in, and year out.

Andrew invites the very best on his podcast, people who not only share information but provide actionable information to help grow your business. I constantly come up with new ideas or fresh ways to look at things from this podcast.

Not only that, Andrew asks the tough questions that we want to ask, it’s almost as if he’s anticipating the listeners’ questions.

Listening to this podcast is a joy, it’s like reconnecting with a dear colleague and friend and then being privy to some of the best experts in the photography field today.

My thanks to Andrew and his team for putting out the best photography podcast, year after year. You help so many people and your work is truly valued.
