Every photographer who's in business is looking for a better way to manage… everything. Up till now, it's been a necessary evil to accumulate all kinds of software to manage all kinds of tasks. That might have changed with the launch of Sprout Studio, the all in one photography management software.
In this episode, I throw question after question at Bryan Cappricci, photographer and founder of Sprout Studio about the new software and its real life, real world suitability for working portrait and wedding photographers who really don't want to learn another piece of software.
Here’s some of what we cover:

Competition Time with The Image Salon
Jean-Michel from the Image Salon has been in touch about sponsoring the PhotoBizX Podcast. The Image Salon offers professional editing services for wedding and portrait photographers to help free up your time to do more of whatever it is you want to do – more shooting, more time with the family, personal photography projects or just less time in front of the computer.
I explained that there are no ads and no sponsors for the show so we came up with an idea I think will benefit you. A competition to have one of your jobs (wedding or portrait) edited by The Image Salon for free then come onto the show as an interview guest and talk about your experience from start to finish – a brutally honest look at outsourcing.
You can find the details of what's included below and you'll be happy to know photographers like Gabe Mc Clintock, Two Mann Studios and Chrisman Studios are all clients at The Image Salon which tells me, these guys know what they're doing.
For wedding photographers, we’d offer the following:
- A test run process with one of our editors in order to lock into the winning photographer’s editing style
- A gallery of up to 500 images edited at our BASIC+ level, along with 25 images edited at our BEST level
- A three to five business day turnaround for the job
For portrait photographers, we’d offer the following:
- A gallery of any size edited at our PORTRAIT level
- Three to five business day turnaround for the job
Every one of our clients is assigned their own editor, with whom they can develop a close working relationship. Photographers can provide direct feedback to their editor, in a way that guarantees consistent growth over multiple jobs.

iTunes Reviews and Shout-outs
Each week I check for any new iTunes reviews and it's always a buzz to receive these… for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, it's confirmation that I'm on the right track with the interviews and that they really are helping you improve your photography business. That's awesome!
Secondly, iTunes is the biggest search engine when it comes to podcasts and it's your reviews and ratings that help other photographers find PhotoBizX. More listeners means more interviews and ultimately a better show.
We define the policies and the boundaries that we operate under – Bryan Caporicci
If you have left a review in the past, thank you!
If you haven't and you'd like to, head to https://photobizx.com/itunes and you can leave some honest feedback and a rating which will help both me and the show and I'll be sure to thank you on the show and add a link to your website or blog if you let me know the URL and your name.

When we have the boundaries, when we have limitations, we get creative about how we use our time. And if we have more time to do it, we'll just find a way to be creative and waste more time – Bryan Caporicci

Hey Andrew and Brian,
Nice sales pitch to start off the interview…
Anyway, the second half of the interview when you talk about time management, comparing ourselves by how busy we are, etc, was great. It’s good to hear the tips that you provided, and I’m happy to know that I employ several of them myself. The biggest one has to be maximizing the screen for what you’re using (Lightroom for example), and sticking with just that until you’re done your task. You’ll most definitely be far more productive in that time than if you are constantly bouncing between LR, iMessage, email, etc etc.
Thanks Chris… I think 🙂
It’s tough to do an interview about a product or software without it coming across like an ad. Apologies if it did, that wasn’t my intention. My plan was to put myself in the buyers seat as a photographer and see the software really would be a good fit for me… And the listener.
I’m a total shocker for trying to multitask and need to break the habit. I’ll be off to do one thing, see a notice for an email, a message or a comment and I’m off sown that rabbit hole before getting back to what I was doing.
The only thing that consistently works for me is using the Freedom App to block some programs and get up early to do the work I really want to get done first.
That was a mammoth show guys, it got me from one side of Ireland to the other (we are small compared to Australia and Canada in fairness) I’ll be having a go at the trial, i have nothing to move from, so it should be pretty straight forward, although my IT background says “If it sounds too good to be true, then there must be something wrong”, but i have been wrong before !
As for the time management part, pretty interesting stuff, and I 100% agree we cannot multi task, no matter what gender you are .
Cheers guys
It was a master wan’t it! Love that you were able to get from one side of the country to the other while listening. 🙂
Have you given it a try yet Paul – if so, how are you getting on?
Great Podcast, always love trying out new things that will help with my time management and my clients. I attempted to create a trial account with Sprout but it asked for my credit card information and Brian had specifically said he “did not want or would not take our credit card information!” Pretty disappointed with that! I would of love to give it a try.
Hi Beth – I’m pretty sure Brian said they have to take your credit card details to even set up a trial account but you won’t be billed for 14 days.
If you still want to give it a try, enter your details and set a calendar reminder for say 13 days after you sign up and you should know by then if it’s a good fit.
Also, one of the premium members hunted down a promo code – Upon checkout, enter the code “freshstartmonthly” to receive 20% for the first 3 months or “freshstartannual” to receive 6% off the entire year!”
Hope this helps.
