Mike Allebach of allebachphotography.com is known as the Tattooed Brides Photographer. In this interview, Mike shares how he has been able to capitalise on this genre including the marketing, pricing and selling involved to create and build a successful photography business. In addition, Mike reveals his next big focus, couples boudoir, and why he feels it's the next big thing for photography business.

When he was in high school, Mike was in a punk rock band. After becoming a wedding photographer, Mike noticed no one had really gone after that market. In 2008 he put together a shoot with tattooed people and things took off from there.

Since then, he's photographed offbeat, gay, trans, straight, straight-edge, roller girl, nerdy, steampunk, punk rock, rockabilly, tattooed, not-tattooed, interfaith and couples with disabilities.

Mike’s writing and photography have been featured in over 100 blogs, newspapers & magazines. His articles have been read over 1/2 million times!

iTunes Reviews and Shout-outs

Each week I check for any new iTunes reviews and it's always a buzz to receive these… for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, it's confirmation that I'm on the right track with the interviews and that they really are helping you improve your photography business. That's awesome!

Secondly, iTunes is the biggest search engine when it comes to podcasts and it's your reviews and ratings that help other photographers find PhotoBizX. More listeners means more interviews and ultimately a better show.

If you have left a review in the past, thank you!

If you haven't and you'd like to, head to https://photobizx.com/itunes and you can leave some honest feedback and a rating which will help both me and the show and I'll be sure to thank you on the show and add a link to your website or blog if you let me know the URL of your website and your name.

Alternatively, if you've left a review for PhotoBizX and are looking for more backlinks to help your SEO, leave a review for the new Photography Xperiment Podcast  and email me your key words or keyword phrase and where you'd like me to link to.

Tony from This is my life

Gidday Andrew, I am not your typical listener, as apart from the occasional head-shoot and portrait of my clients for the cover of their book/Album that I produce, I am not a portrait or wedding Photog. (although I have shot dozens of weddings in a previous life and never again LOL).

I have found though that because you mix it up a fair bit with SEO, Marketing, general business as well as the general interviews with wedding and portrait pros, that I find I get quite a lot out of most interviews, I am primarily these days producing Video 80% and aside from it not being as saturated and far better margins than stills that my fairly unique business is centred around video.

All that said, your podcast has many aspects that I find relative and thoroughly enjoy it aside from getting a lot out of it. Keep up the great work and keep mixing it up.

Cheers Tony

NEW Product review and suggestion segment

After the topic of recommended business resources and products for pro photographers came up in the Members Facebook Group, I'm delighted to announce this new segment kicks off in todays episode thanks to Edmonton portrait photographer, Amanda Schulz of ACS Studios.

Amanda will be familiar to Premium and long term listeners after her interview for episode 144 of the podcast – How to find your way as a portrait photographer where she introduced and went into detail about how her 30 Days of Gorgeous Project works to generate a great photography income in addition to her full time teaching career. The same project Michael Teo has used and shared in his recent premium only interview.

Amanda, as you'll hear, is one of the most organised people I know so it was no surprise when she quickly suggested The Passion Planner as a great product and would be perfect for this new segment.

The biggest concern by members was this segment would become a product pushing segment as a way to encourage spending on products you don't really need or a way to get “hidden” advertising into the show. That is definitely not the plan and you'll be happy to know the Passion Planner is available free!

Although not always possible, the pan is to have you (listeners and members) come on and talk about the products you're using in your business you can't live without.

Thanks again Amanda for kicking off this segment!
